JENNIFER LEE MADSEN |
These scholarships are sponsored by the Pinellas Chapter in memory of Jennifer Lee Madsen.
Before becoming a member of the Pinellas Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind Jennifer Madsen was attending a local agency where she was receiving training to improve her blindness skills. She met and became friends with members of the Pinellas Chapter of the NFBF. She began asking questions about the NFB and what the organization was all about. Consequently, she soon became a member and an active member. Jennifer was an active fund raiser and a strong advocate for better services for the blind. She attended her first and only convention in 1996. Jennifer later passed away due to diabetes complications at the young age of 27. Though a lot of time has passed since then she hasn't, and will never be forgotten so it is with great pride that we present these scholarships in her memory.
Valerie Quigley (Jennifer's Mother); Maddi Tucker (Jennifer's niece); Karen Jackson (Jennifer's stepmother); Ashley Negron (Marcus' sister); Marcus Manuel Negron (Scholarship recipient); Mrs. Negron; and, Richard Quigley (Jennifer's stepfather).
